Lorraine Egerton

Lorraine Hobbs Egerton passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021 surrounded by family.  She was a native of Athens, GA and met her future husband Bill while both were employed by Southern Railway.  They married and lived in Littleton, NC for 53 years where they owned and operated Egerton’s Grocery and were active members of the Littleton United Methodist Church.  After Bill’s death she moved to Brevard, NC and lived at College Walk Retirement Community for 18 years.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill and her sisters Elizabeth and Sarah. She is survived by her brother, Nathan Hobbs (Ann) of Athens, GA; daughter Becky Alderman (Jim) and son Buck Egerton (Louise) both of Brevard; daughter Barbara Holzworth (Ernest) of Warrenton, VA; grandchildren, Kristin Coggins, Eric Holzworth, Alex Holzworth, and Drew Egerton;  and great-grandchild Lucas Egerton.

She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of Brevard First United Methodist Church.

Lorraine was an avid gardener, accomplished seamstress and enjoyed traveling with her husband, siblings, and friends.  She and Bill also took pleasure sharing their residence at Lake Gaston with family and friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude and love to the amazing staff at College Walk.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Littleton, NC.
