Lynne Barbara Hastie

Lynne Barbara (Bauer) Hastie, long time resident of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away at home, on September 13, 2024, after a long illness. She was 82 years of age. 

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Lynne Hastie was born in Patterson New Jersey. She was the daughter of Charles E. Bauer and Evelyn (De’Rier) Bauer. She spent her early years in Hawthorne, New Jersey and graduated from Hawthorne Highschool in 1960. She was in was in a Sorority in High School, named “Omicron Rho Delta” and was a Majorette with the High School Band. After High School, she attended “Patterson State Teacher’s College”, (now “William Patterson University”) and graduated in 1965. After College, she taught Art class in “Glen Rock” New Jersey at an Elementary School.  

In 1973, Lynne moved to Colorado where she eventually met her future husband Frank Michael Hastie (Mike) They were married in 1977. She and Mike moved to England and lived there for 7 years, then moved back to Oak Hill, California.  

During these years, Lynne worked at the Credit Union in England and California. Thirty years ago, she and Mike retired and moved to Brevard, North Carolina, built their home and have lived there ever since. Lynne did work at the Credit Union in Brevard early on.  

Lynne enjoyed many things over the years. She enjoyed swimming, entertaining friends and going out to dinners. She loved painting, doing needle work, working cross word puzzles and playing Bingo with her mother and friends. She was a wonderful assistance and care giver, to her mother Evelyn while she was alive and later to her husband Mike when he became ill. She was also very generous and giving to those she cared about.  

She was a loving wife, daughter, aunt, sister and sister-in-law as well as friend. Lynne was loved by family and many friends. She will be truly missed.  

Lynne is preceded in death by both her parents Charles and Evelyn Bauer and her husband Frank Michael (Mike) Hastie and their beloved cat Daytona.  

She is survived by her brother Fred C. Bauer and wife Shirley of Cedaredge, CO., nephews, Craig C. Bauer of Durango, CO. and Paul D. Bauer of Eckert CO., grandniece, Kayla B. Bauer of Grand Junction, CO., grandnephew, Brayden C. Bauer of Eckert, CO, cousins Carole Taitt of Florida and Cindy Bean of Florida, a stepdaughter, a step granddaughter and step grandson.  

Lynne’s family would like to extend their appreciation to ALL those that have assisted her over the past several years, during this long illness.
