Margaret Hall

Margaret Westervelt (Peg) Hall, 68, died peacefully in her Cedar Mountain home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Peg is survived by Geraldine (Gerry) Azzata, her beloved partner of 34 years, and a large loving community of friends and relatives.

Peg was an example for all of how to live a full and generous life, even in the midst of illness. She believed in social justice, spirituality, and the special connection that horses have with humans. Peg loved playing the banjo with her old-time music group, The Bold Gray Mares. Everyone who ever met Peg will remember her inner strength and her wonderful smile.

Her community reached far and wide. Especially precious to Peg was the congregation of the Unitarian Universalists of Transylvania County (UUTC), where she had served as president. Others dear to Peg were her friends at Redbud Springs, Women's Wisdom Circle, Equine Alchemy, and many, many other friends.

Immediate relatives are her brothers, Daniel and David; plus her nieces and nephews, Annie, Ben, Charlie, Jonah, Liz, and Will, and their families. Peg was predeceased by her parents, Kendall Hall and Margaret Powell Hall.

Also beloved by Peg were her mare Julip; and rescue poodles Maxi and Ricky, who stayed by her side throughout her illness.

Special thanks to the staff of Care Partners Hospice Program, to the folks at Terra Nova Center, and to the many friends who helped Peg and Gerry during Peg's illness.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at UUTC.
