Margaret Wells

Margaret Schachte Wells, 85, of Brevard, passed away January 6, 2013.  She was born in Charleston, S.C. on December 17, 1927 to Frank B. and Ruth Schachte.



Margaret received her Bachelors degree from Chestnut Hill College of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, Philadelphia, PA.  She did graduate work in education at Richmond Professional Institute, received her Master's Degree from Teacher's College, Columbia University; attended the University of Edinburgh, Scotland; was a member of the faculty of the Matthew Fontaine Maury School, Richmond, VA. and did doctoral work at Pennsylvania State University.



Margaret married James Aertsen Wells on August 27, 1959 at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, Charleston, S.C.



Margaret is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim, two daughters; Ruthelen and Mary (Terri), their son; James A. Wells, Jr. (Jay), and six grandchildren; Margaret (Meg), Frank, Mary Claire, Andrew, Ben and Hannah.



A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2013 with Father John Pagel officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 PM prior to the service.  There will be a reception following the service in the fellowship hall.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Margaret may be made to; Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC  28731 or to Father Saturnino Lajo, OMI, Oblate Missions, Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate, P.O. Box 659433, San Antonio, TX  78265-9949.
