Mary Hoxit

Mary Rose Owen Hoxit, 70, of Pisgah Forest, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native of Pickens County, South Carolina,9 she was the daughter of the late Loren and Thelma Galloway Owen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Cagle, and her granddaughter, Sarah Beveridge.

Mary and Roy enjoyed many years of camping at Cade's Cove with their children, grandchildren and family. She loved working as a deli manager where she made many friends. She also spent a lot of time playing softball and in dance class with her sisters.

Her loving survivors include her husband of 53 years, Roy Hoxit; children David Hoxit and wife Staci of Pisgah Forest, Mickey Hoxit and wife Terri of Penrose, Chris Hoxit of Penrose and Tracie Hoxit of Mills River; grandchildren Jacop Hoxit, Corey Hoxit, Joshua Hoxit, Amanda Beveridge, Theresa Beveridge, Ryan Hoxit, Emma Martin and Zack Bradley; great-grandchildren Sophia Beveridge, Noah Smith, Tinsley Smith, and Parker Martin; brothers Robert Owen, Paul Owen, Tommy Owen, Gary Owen, and Ernest Owen, and sisters Linda Sentelle and Faye Fletcher.

Funeral Services for Mary Hoxit will be at 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Patrick Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Wolf Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 11:45 am, prior to the service.
