Mrs. Mary Faith Jennings

Brevard - Mrs. Mary Faith Gibson Jennings, 91, of Brevard, NC died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her home in College Walk.



She was the daughter of the late Baxter Monroe Gibson and Dovie M. Glover Gibson. She was a member of Brevard Wesleyan Church.  Mary Faith attended Southern Wesleyan University and received her education degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. She also received her nursing degree from Indiana University.

Mrs. Jennings was preceded by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Lowell E. Jennings, four brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by two sons; Donald (Lori) Jennings of Tallahassee, FL. and David (Susan) Jennings of Lowell, NC, two daughters; Janene (Eddie) Bryson of Brevard, NC and Ellen (Rick) Belliveau of Highland, MD., 11 grand children, two great grandchildren, one brother; Roy William Gibson of NJ, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Faith faithfully served as an educator, nurse and homemaker beside her husband, whether as a war-bride or in his private medical practice in Gastonia, NC, in positions in the NC West District of the Wesleyan Church, at Wesleyan Headquarters in Indiana, at Southern Wesleyan University, or on the mission field in India and Africa- she found her own special calling working for the Lord wherever the Lord led the family. Their ministry together has affected many lives globally throughout the Wesleyan Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Brevard Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Dave Blackburn, Morris Davis and Don Milstead officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  The burial will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Oakwood Cemetery in Gastonia, NC.

Memorials may be made to Hephzibah Children Home in Macon, GA. or to the Gibson Scholarship Fund at Southern Wesleyan University, Central SC.
