Mary Newton

Mary Christine Newton, 83, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Flesher Fairview Healthcare Center. Originally from Rosman, she was the daughter of the late R. K and Arie Paxton Powell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ted Newton, their son Danny Newton, grandchildren Shelby Newton and Lil' Charlie Davis and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Roger Newton and wife Romona of Pisgah Forest, Brenda Newton Howard and husband J.B. of Asheville, and Ted Newton of Asheville; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Services for Mary Christine Newton will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Blantyre Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest. The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M., one hour prior to the service.
