Maryann Martin

MaryAnn Gordon Martin, 90, of Brevard, NC, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2018. MaryAnn was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Gordon and the loving wife of Andy Martin for 62 years.

MaryAnn was born on October 9, 1927 in Watkinsville, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia and went on to complete a Masters in Social Work at Tulane University. MaryAnn worked in child welfare for the state of Georgia until she married Andy on May 12, 1956.

MaryAnn and Andy moved to Brevard in 1957 for Andy's job at DuPont. They loved living in Brevard and raising their family in such a beautiful town. MaryAnn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
MaryAnn and Andy, along with 4 other families, started the Brevard Church of Christ in 1965. MaryAnn loved the Lord and taught Sunday school, assisted with many Vacation Bible Schools, and greatly enjoyed serving with the other women of the church. She was known for her delicious pecan pies. She leaves a great legacy of love and faith.

MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Andrew Martin, son Drew Martin and wife Rochelle of Spring, TX; daughter, Nancy Martin Watts and husband Dave of Brevard; grandson Josh Martin and wife Lindsey of Spring, TX; granddaughter Cayce Smith and husband Ben of Durham, NC; granddaughter Haley Watts of Asheville; and great grandsons Brooks and Grayson Martin of Spring, TX as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate MaryAnn's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations in Brevard. Phillip Shumate will preside over the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
