Maye Winget

Maye Ledford Winget, 99, of Brevard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at her home. She was a daughter of the late Colon Alonzo Ledford and Creola Guffey Ledford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Mitchem Winget, two sisters; Rubye Mees and Sibyle Davenport, three brothers; Paul Ledford, W. C. Ledford and C. A. Ledford.

Maye graduated from Meredith College and retired from Transylvania County Schools where she taught music for many years.

She is survived by her son; James "Jim" M. Winget, Jr. and wife Anna Gay, three grandchildren; Gay Winget Vasadze and husband Avtandil, James Mitchem Winget III, and Lisa Winget Lagattuta and husband Louis, one brother; Robert Ledford, one sister; Aileen Affronti, five great grandchildren; James and Preston Winget and Grace, Colin and Henry Lagattuta and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is planning a private burial.
