Melvin Barton

Melvin R. Barton, 83, of Brevard, NC passed away on November 8, 2013 at Charles George VA Hospice Center.

He was a son of the late J. Hayden Barton and Pearlie Jones Barton Rinc. He was preceded in death by a brother Cecil Barton.

He was a General Contractor in Transylvania County for 25 years. Two of his commercial projects were building the Pisgah Fish Camp and Cardinal Drive-In.

Melvin attended Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong game hunter in the Fl. Everglades and S.C. Traveling to Gunnison, Co. with friends, for a hunting expedition was one of the most memorable trips he ever took. For many years, he was a member of the afternoon coffee club at Pisgah Fish Camp.

Melvin loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Juanita "Nita" Barton, two daughters; Elaine Weeks and husband Ronnie, Kim Plemmons and husband Garry, four sons; David Barton and wife Sandy, Kenneth Barton and wife Elizabeth, Bryan Clanton and Brad Clanton and friend Sherry, three brothers; Arvil Barton and wife Jeanette, Ramon Rinc and wife Barbara and Roy Rinc and wife Mo, ten Granchildren, four Great Grandchildren, Aunt; Willoree McCall, Sister-in-Law, Jody Barton and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, 14, 2013 at Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church, Brevard with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception at Pisgah Fish Camp immediately following the service.
