Merle Mccormick

MERLE E. McCORMICK, 83, of Harrisburg and Guadalajara, Mexico, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015, in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.

He was the son of the late William J. and Margie (Whitmire) McCormick, and a graduate of Lower Paxton High School, class of 1950, where he was a quarterback on the football team, a catcher for the baseball team, he loved playing tennis. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran; retiring after 22 years as an air traffic controller and serving two tours in Viet Nam, and a retiree of the U. S. Postal Service.

Early in his life, Merle lived with his grandparents in Brevard, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Rosario Garcia McCormick, of Guardalajara, Mexica; his daughter, Candace M. Fisher and her husband, Ronald, of Harrisburg; his sons, Patrick W. McCormick and his wife Cindy, of Bedford, and Michael T. McCormick and his wife Holly, of Brevard, NC; seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday, September 4, 2015, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg. Burial will be held in Dunn's Rock Cemetery in Brevard, North Carolina, with full military honors.
