Michael "Butch" Kilpatrick, 72, of Horse Shoe, NC passed away on Wednesday, February, 28, 2018. A native of Transylvania County, he was a son of the late Onie M. Kilpatrick and Annie Mae Brackett Kilpatrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death five sisters; Alma Frady, Effie Stamey, Louise Hall, Edna Brown and Libby Praytor, two brothers; Junior Kilpatrick and Joe Kilpatrick.
He attended school in Brevard, NC and was a vegetable farmer in Transylvania County. Tilling the soil and smelling the earth before he planted his crops brought him great joy. Heirloom tomatoes were his specialty and he sold them along with his vegetables at the Curb Market in Hendersonville.
Michael is survived by two daughters; Vicky Givian of Horse Shoe, NC, and Amanda Murphy of Brevard, NC, one son; Mike Kilpatrick and wife Rhonda of Horse Shoe, NC, one sister; Patricia Fraederick, eight grandchildren; Isaiah, Jacob, Logan, Dillon, Grant, Chanda, Chayla and Bubba and numerous nieces and nephews. His love of nature and spending time with his family and his dog "Bullet" was important to him.
A Memorial service for Michael Kilpatrick will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 5, 2018 in the hospitality room at Mud Creek Baptist Church followed by graveside services at 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hendersonville, NC with Rev. Robert Hefner officiating.
