Montaree Powell

Montaree (Powell) Powell, 88, of Rosman, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. A Transylvania County native, she was the daughter of the late Marion C. and Callie Aiken Powell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert T. Powell, and her sister, Geneva “Jack” Holcomb.

Mrs. Powell loved to tend her garden and enjoyed canning, and she made many beautiful quilts. But nothing compared to the love she had for her Lord. She could often be found at home reading her Bible and praying.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Berlis Powell and his wife, Pam, of Rosman; and her grandson David; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Montaree Powell will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Old Toxaway Baptist Church with Rev. Shaun Dodson, Rev. Perry Holden and Rev. Bill Bruner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be to either Middle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2824 Pickens Hwy, Rosman, NC 28772 or to the Old Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1280 Old Toxaway Road, Rosman, NC 28772.
