Nelle Ashworth

Nelle Irene Smith Ashworth, 89, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Asheville, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Bonnie Ethel Davis Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Blanton Ashworth; a son, Donald Jackson Ashworth; brothers, Charles and Joe Smith; and a sister, Margaret Smith.

Mrs. Ashworth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brevard. She retired from Ecusta as a Quality Inspector. She loved the outdoors, walking, wildflowers and caring for others. She was well known for her Halloween Parties and Valentine cards.

Nelle is survived by her daughter in law Paula Ashworth; sister, Emily Meredith; grandchildren, Shannon and Nicholas, great grandchildren; Savannah, Luke, Lilli, Lizzie and Ellis; and her campanion and caregiver, Monica Driscoll.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 6:30pm at the First Baptist Church of Brevard. The family will receive friends from 4:30pm until 6:15pm also at the church.
