Oliver Powell

Rosman - Oliver Powell, 81, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC.

A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Marcus and Essie Dale Powell. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in WW II and Korea. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Powell was retired from DuPont Corp., and was a member of Old Toxaway Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Surviving are his wife, Montaree Powell of the home; son, Berlis Powell and wife Pam of Rosman; grandson, David Powell of Rosman.

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at Old Toxaway Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Bruner and Tony Lambert officiating. Burial will in Middle Fork Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
