Paul Brink

April 15, 1921 — March 28, 2017

Black Mountain, North Carolina

Paul Lester Brink, age 95, of Brevard, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

Born April 15, 1921 in West View, PA, Paul was the son of the late Paul Tillman and Georgia (Bruce) Brink. At the age of twelve, his family moved to Johnstown.

After graduation, Paul went to work for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. In 1942, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was deployed during WWII to fight in the South Pacific. Master Sergeant Brink was also later called up in the early 1950s as a Marine Corps Reservist.
While living in Baltimore and in between enlistments, Paul entered the printing business and successfully completed a four-year program in Commercial Illustration at the Maryland Institute of Art. It was also during this time that he began to write, and both of these activities would play a major role in Paul's life during his later years.

Paul enjoyed a successful career in printing and in 1975 moved to Florida where, in a state of semi-retirement he worked part-time at a local FM radio station as well as owned and operated a real estate magazine. In 1987, Paul fully retired and moved to Brevard, NC, however, 'retirement' did not seem to suit him; rather, it afforded him the time to pursue his other passions, which included drawing, writing and playing classical guitar. Paul won several awards in the Brevard area for his drawings and had a number of his plays performed at the Brevard Little Theatre. Articles he had written over time appeared in many publications, but in those later years his focus was on promoting the great natural wonders of Transylvania County. By all accounts, he lived a full and active life.

Paul is survived by his children, Susan Brink, of MD; Linda (Bill Swearer) Brink of NY; Paul (Belinda) Brink of FL; Judy (Bob) Brink-Drescher of, NY; Grandson, Tim (Duyen) Brink; Great Grandchildren, Autumn and Austin Brink; Sister, Arlene Bridge of Hampton Township; and many, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Testa.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 03, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at the King Funeral Home & Cremation Services, INC, 2841 Woodland Circle in Allison Park, PA with Rev. Anthony Schneck officiating.

He will be laid to rest at Uniondale Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

Moore-Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the family.
