Rosman - Phillip S. Jarrett, 65, of Rosman, NC died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Transylvania Community Hospital.

He was a son of the late Ralph Lee and Effie Marie Butler Jarrett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Lee Jarrett. He is survived by his sister, Ilka Candetta Jarrett Feller of Owings, Maryland.

He was born on August 2, 1945 in Rosman and lived there all his life, except for a few intervals. He served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968, after recruit training in San Diego, was assigned to and served aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Ranger (CVA-61) as a Shipfitter Second Class. He deployed several times to Vietnam following the Gulf of Tonkin Incident.

Following Navy service he made his living in the woods. He was an exceptional marksman, hunter, and fly fisherman.

In addition to his sister, he is survived by a numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and an aunt, Ruth Jarrett Whimire.

Visitation will be at the Moore Funeral Home in Brevard 1:00 PM, November 26, 2010, followed by burial at the Galloway Memorial Cemetery in Middlefork.

The family extends a special thanks to Cindy and Tracy Powell who cared for him in his final months.
