Priscilla never spent an idle moment. She loved spending her time reading, traveling, walking in the woods, cooking, and being with her many, many friends. Pris of course loved her family dearly; she had many of them! From her Rockbrook and Camp Carolina buddies (where she worked from the 1960's through the 1990's) - to her "Wednesday Club" (book club) friends - to the folks from St. Phillips Episcopal Church - to her Brevard friends and neighbors - if she was your, friend then you were her family. Pris loved animals and even fed "those pesky squirrels!" Her garden was a huge passion and her credo, which is printed on a sign in her garden, was "forget your ills! Get out and dig and sing!"
She will always be an inspiration to all who knew her as a person who embraced life and lived it to the fullest, regardless of the circumstances. Priscilla opened her heart and her life to the world around her because she made it clear that, if she was going to be in this life, then she was going to participate! She sang loudly (though rarely in key,) and laughed without restraint. She danced like "no one was looking" well before that became a catch phrase. She was stylish and adored pretty things, especially shoes. She hated housework, whining, artifice, and bullies. She was a natural story teller with a quick wit and a keen sense of irony. Pris rarely uttered a sentence that didn't end in an exclamation point. She went AT life with an enthusiasm and interest that sustained her to the end, and when she could no longer live that way, she quietly took her leave.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Brevard on Wednesday, January 20th at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Robb Field and Rev. Dick Tucker officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. A private graveside service will be held at St. Paul's in the Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Women of the Church of St. Philip's, St. Philip's Memorial Fund, or Brother Wolff Animal Rescue.
