Quentin Clark

May 14, 1931 — June 5, 2018

Brevard, North Carolina

Quentin Clark, Jr., of Brevard, NC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Mr. Clark was the firstborn son of Lillian Pacetty Clark from Tampa, FL, and Quentin Clark, Sr. He spent most of his childhood in Bladen County, NC, where his ancestors had lived since colonial times, making their living from turpentine, timber and tobacco. The sandy roads and loblolly forests of Bladen provided the backdrop for many of his beloved stories in later years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Russell.
Quentin served in the Navy during the Korean War, maintaining aircraft at the Naval Air Station on Boca Chica Key, Florida. On a visit to see a navy buddy in Oklahoma, he met his friend's cousin, Alice. He and Alice were married 60 years, until she passed away in January 2018. After leaving the University of Oklahoma with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Quentin made his way back East with Alice happily joining him. They first moved to Knoxville, starting their family, then Chattanooga, then finally Brevard. From 1966 until 1993, he worked at Ecusta, helping to keep the boilers and paper machines running and making many special friends.
Mr. Clark was a strong believer and follower of his loving God. He was a faithful member of the Brevard Church of Christ, serving many years as elder and teacher. In his retirement years, he enjoyed reading, praying, writing, woodworking, mushroom hunting, traveling, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and his dogs.
Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Holly Watkins (Lonnie) of Apex, Kelly Clark of Brevard, and Melissa Carmine (Doug) of Mount Dora, FL; grandaughter Heather Nossaman (Lucas) of Knoxville, TN, grandson Seth Watkins of Apex, great-grandson Ezra Nossaman, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
The family wishes to thank special friends Darlene, Lavonnia and Sherry, Care Partners Hospice, and the staff at Cedar Mountain House. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transylvania Christian Ministry, P. O. Box 958, Brevard, NC 28712.
