Ray H. Ideker passed away peacefully, August 25th, 2020 in Brevard, North Carolina. Ray was born in 1943 in Seattle, Washington to Ray F. and Elizabeth H. Ideker.
The family later moved to Humboldt, South Dakota. Ray earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at South Dakota State University. He was a retiree of E.I. Dupont Corporation after a long career utilizing his problem solving and mechanical engineering skills. His technical abilities were complimented by his artistic side as a painter, metal worker and hammered dulcimer player. Ray was active in church and community activities until he was no longer able. He was an avid sportsman who particularly loved fly fishing in the North Carolina Mountains, duck, pheasant (and tractor) hunting in South Dakota and hiking and backpacking with his son. If you could not find Ray, look under the hood of any car.
Ray is survived by his wife Joan of Brevard, North Carolina and son Jason of Corvallis, Oregon, sister Cynthia and husband Lyle of Minnesota, brother Jeff and wife Dawn of Washington, brother Lance and wife Kim of Idaho, sister Janet and husband Keith of South Dakota, a close and loving family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and extended family and friends.
Due to current health restrictions a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your preferred charity. Ray was a lifelong supporter of Boys Town and Veteran’s charities. The best way to honor Ray would be to go outdoors for a walk, a hike, a fishing trip and to spend time with your loved ones.
