Rebecca Cannady Burgess Obituary

Rebecca Cannady Burgess, age 74, of Pisgah Forest, NC passed away on Saturday, July 11th, 2015.
She had formerly worked as Director of the Gaston County (NC) Cancer Society, and had been owner of Becky's Classic Curtains in Brevard, NC.
Becky had served as past president of the Brevard Wednesday Club, had served as a board member of the Davidson River Cemetery, and had been a member of the local bridge club.
She had been a long-time member of First United Methodist Church, Brevard, NC. She had many dear friends, and will be remembered as a caregiver to everyone.
Becky was the daughter of Samuel Cannady and Ramie Cannady of Dunn, NC and was raised by her maternal aunt Shelton Britt and her husband Elwood Britt, also of Dunn. She is survived by her son Stephen Ben Burgess of Gastonia, NC and his wife Angela, with grandchildren Andrew Burgess, Daniel Burgess, and Anna Burgess; niece Hope Cannady of the home; sister-in-law Nancy Burgess of Newton, NC; nephew Gregg Burgess of Catawba, NC; nephew Matthew Cannady of Dunn, NC; and several close cousins and loving family across North Carolina and in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ben Eugene Burgess, her son Britt Gerard Burgess of Brevard, and her brother James Cannady of Dunn.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at First United Methodist Church, Brevard, NC on Friday, July 17th at noon, the Reverend Mike Holder, Sr. and the Reverend Lauren Sims-Salata, officiating. A reception in her honor will be held immediately following in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be at Davidson River Cemetery and will be private.
