Rebecca Doe

Rebecca Weathers Doe, 75, of Sapphire, died on May 16, 2015. A native of Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Sumter Calhoun and Gwendolyn Julia Greene Weathers.

Born and raised in Charlotte, she attended Randolph-Macon Women's College and graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1961. After moving to Atlanta, GA and living there for 30 years, she moved to the Cashiers area in 2000. She was a participant in music, both instrumental and choral and also became involved in oil painting during her time in the mountains. She had a long career as a medical transcriptionist in hospital settings in both Atlanta and in Highlands. A former participant in the Cashiers Cares project, she was also active in the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Survivors include her sons, Will Long and wife Nan of Brevard, and Russell Long and wife Gloria of Charleston, SC.
