Remus Leroy Roper, 75, of Brevard, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017. A native of Pickens County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Remus Gilland and Clara Lee Ellen Johnson Roper. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Gail Cassell Roper and infant daughter Felecia Christine Roper.
He served as a deacon for a number of years at Middlefork Baptist Church and retired after thirty-eight years of employment with Ecusta. He loved fishing, and he loved people, and he really loved being a father and grandfather.
His loving survivors include his wife of 20 years, Shirley Ann Owen Roper; children Colby Roper of Asheville, Pamela Roper of Hendersonville, Charles Revis of Rosman and Pamela Revis Fisher and husband Jimmy of Rosman; grandchildren Ethan Rogers, Steven Luke Thomas, Xander Roper, Cruz Roper, Christopher Fisher and wife Alana, Hayley Fisher, William Revis, Nadia Revis and Aidan Revis; great-grandchildren Khloe Rogers, Liem Rogers, Aubree Grace Fisher and Harlee Ann Fisher; brothers Stanley Roper and wife Barbara of Brevard, Phillip Roper and wife Lisa of Granbury, TX, and Stuart Roper of Palo Pinto, TX; and many very special nieces and nephews including Jason Roper who he thought of as a son.
A Memorial Service for Remus Leroy Roper will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Middlefork Baptist Church with Rev. Chester Chappell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Care Partners Hospice, P.O. Box 1116, Brevard, NC 28712.
