Richard Martin Norton

Brevard - Richard Martin Norton , 63, died Monday, June 8, 2009 after a tragic accident.
Rick was the son of the late John and Laetita Norton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Frances Norton.
Mr. Norton was a member of St. Philips Episcipol Church in Brevard. He attended Northwood High School in Northwood, MD and later graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the Western North Carolina Pilots Association, the American Yankee Association, and Angel Flight.
Rick's love for flying has played a major role in his life. His passion for flying started over 30 years ago. He was a part of Angel flight-Mid Atlantic; pilots which help many individuals who were in need of transportation to a destination for medical treatment. He retired after 31 years as a Mechanical Engineer for the Department of Defense. He was also a Flight instructor for over 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Norton ; son, Richard Norton; and sister, Judy Mc Cardell.
The memorial service will be held at St. Philips Episcopal Church on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 2pm. There will be a reception immediately following the service for family and friends at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angel Flight-Mid Atlantic, 4620 Haygood Rd. Suite #1, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
