Richard Carlyle Tresise
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Richard (better known as "Dick") graduated from high school and went to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. He met JoAnn Hayes who was attending Denison University.
Upon graduation from Kenyon, he joined Howard Hughes' new Trans World Airlines company as a general manager, working in Columbus, Ohio. Two children, Lynn and Rick were born. Then he was transferred to the territory of Hawaii to manage the emerging Hawaiian market. This is when Karen was born.
Excelling at his position, Dick was promoted and moved his family to Bay Village, Ohio. He transferred his family as he accepted better positions in Concord, Massachusetts, Ridgefield, Connecticut, London, England and Westport, Connecticut. His career spanned 35 years.
He is remembered by his children and grandchildren with great love. He was able to send all of his children to college. They remember him whistling and the special gleam in his eye when he smiled. He loved family and never missed a birthday or special holiday with a card and note.
He was devoted to his wife JoAnn, until she passed away March 8, 1995. They were a remarkable, sociable team. Subsequently, he enjoyed 18 years of married life with Madalyn Watters. Together they enjoyed playing bridge with friends and taking golf excursions.
Church life and an exceptional minister were an important source of support and inspiration. He was a principled, honest and deliberate man, in control and making decisions until the end. It is truly an understatement to say that he will be missed tremendously by all who knew him and thrived under his generous attention.
A memorial service is scheduled at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at St. Phillips Episcopal Church with Rev. Rob Field officiating.
