Robert Fry

Balsam Grove, North Carolina

Robert John Fry, 72, of Balsam Grove, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015. A native of Bergen County, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Carl and Lenora Mann Fry.

A Veteran of the US Navy, he had a profound dedication to and respect for those who served their country. Before moving to North Carolina he had worked as an electrician for Local IBEW 164. After relocating, he volunteered as the Deputy Chief of the Balsam Grove Volunteer Fire Department and was very active in the Balsam Grove community. Balsam Grove had become his home and he loved living there and becoming a part of the community.

He was a beloved husband, father and cherished Baba.

His loving survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gail H. Fry; his brother Richard Fry and wife Pam of Pisgah Forest; his daughters Debra Wagner and husband David Podobed of Butler, NJ Jennifer Gosnell and husband Scott of Greenville, SC; grand children Tess Gosnell, Tyler, Zachary and Brendan Wagner and Julian Podobed; and many loving nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Robert Fry from 1-4 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the family home in Balsam Grove. Friends are encouraged to bring written memories of Bob that will be placed in the memory basket at the service.

The family requests memorials be made to the Balsam Grove Volunteer Fire Department or to the military charity of your choice.
