Robert Gillespie

Robert L. Gillespie, 89, of Brevard, NC passed away January 7, 2018 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. He was a son of the late Jason Leander and Annie Jordan Gillespie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Lila Stafford, four brothers; Al, Ted, Jason and Hugh Gillespie and one nephew; Gary Gillespie and one great nephew; Levi Bryson.

Robert was born in Brevard, NC and graduated from Rosman High School. He was a veteran of the U S Army and he retired from Dupont.
He was an outdoor enthusiast and gardener. He also enjoyed being the Gillespie family photographer.

He is survived by two sisters; Frances Waldrop of Brevard, NC and Grace Leonard (Jack) of Burlington, NC, one brother; Lester Gillespie (Shirley) of Rosman, NC, one sister-in-law; Ann Gillespie of Brevard, NC. 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. "Everybody needs an Uncle Robert".

A Funeral Service for Robert Gillespie will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Cherryfield Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Preslar officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
