Robert Huggins

Robert Jason Huggins, 91, died peacefully on August 5, 2013.

A native and lifelong resident of Brevard, he was the son of Jason Huggins and Myrtle Townsend Huggins. He was preceded in death by his brothers William F. Huggins and Jack Louis Huggins and by his sister Kathryn Huggins Orr.

He attended Brevard High School, Brevard College, and Clives School of Photography. While serving in the U.S. Army, he attended Princeton University. He was a veteran of World War II with combat service in France and Germany. He was also retired from Olin Corporation.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Mary Jane Brown Huggins, his son Robert Louis Huggins and wife Kathleen of Brevard, his daughter Janice Huggins Cox and husband Dennis of Kings Mountain, his daughter Susan Huggins of Weaverville, his granddaughter, Dr. Lisa Cox Cross and husband Dr. Michael Cross of Bridgeville, PA, and three great-grandchildren, Marisa Cross, Amber Cross, and Carter Cross also of Bridgeville.

The family will have private services. An informal visitation for friends will be held at Moore Funeral Home on Country Club Road on Saturday evening, August 10, from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
