Robert Nicholson

Robert Joseph "Bob" Nicholson, Jr., 64, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard. A native of Brevard, he was a son of Robert Joseph Nicholson, Sr. and Judith Ann Mann Nicholson. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Guy Nicholson and Lessie Nicholson Poor, maternal grandparents Wae Mann and Silver Mann and paternal step-grandfather Avery (Pat) Poor.

A 1969 graduate of Brevard High School, Mr. Nicholson was a 1973 graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with Honors. He was an avid UT Volunteer fan and enjoyed spending time with "His Boys", his daughter, and grandchildren.

He served in the US Army Reserve for 13 years and attained the rank of major. While he worked primarily as Certified Public Accountant, he also worked for Olin Chemical in Charleston, TN.

In addition to his parents his survivors include four sons Robert J. "Bob" Nicholson, III (Holly) of Knoxville, TN, Brian Nicholson of Knoxville, TN, Hunter Nicholson (Alexis) of Knoxville, TN and Dustin Nicholson (Heather) of Chattanooga, TN, one daughter Courtney Nicholson of LaFollette, TN, one brother Keith Nicholson, Sr. (Nancy) of Clayton, NC, four grandchildren: Catherine, Ashleigh, Molly and Landon; one niece Jeniffer Nicholson and two nephews Michael Nicholson and Keith Nicholson, Jr.

A Memorial Service for Bob Nicholson will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Brevard First Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Crocker and Rev. Hank Moffitt officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the Memorial Service. A private graveside service was held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with Military Rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Army Emergency Relief Fund at 200 Stovall Street Alexandria, VA 22332 or First Baptist Church of Brevard at 94 S. Gaston Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
