Roger Merrill

Roger Dale Merrill, 71, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Theodore and Margaret Dotson Merrill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Owen and his brother, Charles Merrill.

A long-time fan of NASCAR, he was mostly a fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Yet, his greatest enjoyment came from his family: going coon hunting with his sons and friends, taking them fishing and for rides on the tractor. Nothing brought him more joy and pleasure than being with and spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids.

His loving survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Merrill; his children: Nikki Merrill, Bud Stone and Shane Merrill; grandchildren: Tinley Merrill, Shane Merrill, Jr. (Ieshia), Cody Merrill (Tami), and Courtney Merrill; great-grandchildren: Ariana Merrill and Adeleigh Merrill; Brothers: Gene Merrill (Bobby) and Tom Merrill (Betty), Brother-in-Law Herman Owen; and Anita Latham.

Arrangements for a Memorial Service to honor and remember the life of Roger will be announced at a later date.
