Roy Carter

Roy Edward Carter, 95, of Brevard, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at The Oaks of Brevard. He was born March 17, 1919 in Transylvania County to the late James Edward and Hester Lance Carter. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Edna Fulton Carter; his brothers Valry Carter and Lance Carter and sisters Florine Hollingsworth, Elizabeth "Sal" Barnett, and Katie Lee Carter.

Mr .Carter was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and served in the South Pacific in the 21st Infantry and 24th Infantry Divisions. He also retired from Olin Corporation after forty-one years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Greeter for over sixty years.

Mr. Carter is survived by his son, David Carter and his wife Cindy; grandson Charles Carter and wife Christin; granddaughter Kimberly Nicholson and husband Daniel; and great-grandson Jackson Carter as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Brevard with Rev. Tommy Crocker Officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church parlor. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
