Roy Morris

Roy Harold Morris, 88, of Brevard passed away October 25, 2013 at the Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard.
Roy was born August 9, 1925 in Brevard, NC and raised in Sylva, NC. He was the son of the late Rose Marie Young and Roy Morris. He was preceded in death by a son; Gary Joseph Morris and a sister Mary Wallberg.

Roy is survived by his wife Lillian Cabe Morris; two sons, Michael and wife Gail Morris of Brevard, and Terry and wife Sonya Morris of Brevard; four daughters, Vicki Woodley of Waynesville, Donna and husband Eddie of Fayetteville, Linda and husband Tom Weaver of Brevard and Sheila Grow of Michigan; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Roy was a veteran of the 4th Division in the U.S. Marines serving in the Pacific Campaign; Tinian Island, Saipan Island, Marshall Island and Iwo Jima earning the Purple Heart.

Roy retired from Ecusta Inc. as store clerk manager serving on the archery team. He was an avid Carolina Panthers fan and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a dedicated husband and loving father and grandfather.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 28th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Brian Berg Lane, Brevard, NC.The family will receive friends at the church after the interment at Blue Ridge Garden of Memory which will follow the Mass.
