Roy G. Orr, 90, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. A life-long resident of Brevard, he was the son of the late Homer and Lula Orr. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Orr, his brother Richard Orr and his sister Bertie Morris.

A lifelong member of Brevard First Baptist Church, he retired from Ecusta after 42 years. He also owned and operated Hannah Ford Stables and also one of the first sod farms in Western North Carolina, Hannah Ford Grass Farm which he started in 1965. He enjoyed golf and was one of the top amateur golfers in North and South Carolina in the late 1940’s. He also loved horses, but his greatest passion was his family.

His loving survivors include his two sons, Wayne Orr (Peggy) of Inman, SC and Jeff Orr of Rogersville, TN, and his daughter, Brenda Brock (Jeff) of Tryon, NC; his sisters Betty Owenby of Brevard, NC and Becky Hale of Hendersonville, NC; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services for Roy Orr will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery in Brevard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Remains Ranch, 1771 John Dodd Rd, Wellford, SC 29385.
