Ruth Tinsley Carland

Brevard- Ruth Tinsley Carland, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at The Oaks of Brevard.

A native of Transylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Magie McGaha Tinsley. She was preceded in death by her husband; Henry David Carland, her daughter; Ruth Wells, her brothers and sisters; Span, Mamie, Eugene, Jessie, Dick, GE, and Georgia and her dear friend, Ada Smith.

She was the oldest charter member of Community Baptist Church in Brevard.

Surviving are her sons; Robert Carland of Brevard, Jerry (Patty) Carland of Brevard; her daughters, Joyce (Dan) Holbert of Hendersonville, Martha Carland of Easley, SC, and Grace Carland of Simpsonville, SC; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2pm at Dunns Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Revs. Dan Holbert and Tommy Owen officiating. The family will receive friends at 12:30pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dunns Creek Baptist Church Building/ Cemetery Fund, 2061 See Off Mountain Rd, Brevard, NC 28712.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to all the staff of The Oaks and Four Seasons Hospice for all the wonderful care, love, and support given to Mrs. Carland during her illness.
