Sadie Smith Price, 88, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, January 24th at The Oaks of Brevard.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard. She served on the Board of the Salvation Army and State Employees' Credit Union. She was known by many students in the Transylvania County school system as 'the pink lady' because of her work with the Transylvania County Health Dept. assisting the nurses in giving flu shots throughout the school system. She deeply loved her work with the Health Department, working with the school children, and the many friends she made at the health department, especially Jesse Lollis, Mary Alice Allen, and Mildred Orr, who all preceded her in death and then while under the leadership of Terry Pierce, who she lovingly called 'boss' but loved his family like they were her own.
Sadie worked at Ecusta until she met and married David Price in 1952. After his untimely death in 1958, she devoted her life to her two children, Deborah Price Hall of Etowah and William David Price II of Ocean Isle Beach NC; her grandchildren; her church; and her many friends. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Seth Hall of Brevard, Brooke Hall of Shippensburg, PA, Colby Price of Calabash NC ,Christian Price of Sunset Beach NC, and Cassidy Price of Hendersonville, NC; stepsons Tom Price and wife Judy of Asheville and Don Price and wife Nancy of Canton and their children and grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors. Sadie never met a stranger and lived her life caring for others.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Brevard at 1:30 on Sunday, January 26th. Her nephew, Reverend Kevin Smith of North Wilkesboro and Reverend Tommy Crocker of First Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at a reception and celebration of her life in the fellowship hall at the church immediately following the service. The family wishes to thank the management and staff of College Walk, particularly Kevin Betz who brought her the newspaper every day after she transitioned to The Oaks of Brevard, and the wonderful nurses, CNAs, and staff at The Oaks of Brevard.
