Scott Evan Ellis, 51, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. He and his work buddy, David Swan, were the two victims killed in the EF3 tornado in Convent, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Larry Jack Ellis and Mary Evelyn Ball Barton Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his younger brother, Martin Dirk Ellis.
Scott worked all over the United States as a certified pipefitter/welder and safety training instructor. Many Facebook messages tell of the respect his many coworkers and friends had for him. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, cars, cookouts, woodworking and cornbread.
He is survived by his daughters, Rachel Ellis and Carrie Addis (Damien), a son, Nathan Scott Ellis; sisters Linda Barton Chapman (Eddie) of Brevard and Deborah Barton Waters of Hendersonville, step-brother Wayne Hansford and (Jenifer); and was married to Robin Roper Ellis for 15 years. His Uncle, Rex Ellis along with several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins also survive him.
Private family services will be held with burial at Dunn's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
