Sebring Scott Griffin Lewis, 79, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2023. A native of Union Point, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Andrew and Caroline Buist Scott Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Andrew Griffin.
A graduate of Emery University’s Oxford College, she was elegant and strikingly beautiful. She is best remembered by three words: Life, Light and Love.
She was always full of life, an encourager to those around her and active in a number of groups from the P.O.E. Sisterhood, to a number of small groups and book clubs. She had a special attachment to nature, and drew strength from that and her deep, abiding faith.
A woman of strong faith, she supported her husband, Rev. Thomas Griffith Lewis, as he served in a number churches as they moved frequently during their marriage of 58 years. She was interested in people, and her Southern charm, especially her Southern accent, endeared any number of people to her. She loved people and those that knew her, loved her.
But her children and grandchildren always came first as she loved and cared for them individually. Her loving survivors include her husband of 58 years, Rev. Dr. Thomas Griffith Lewis; their children: Caroline Sebring Lewis, Thomas Parker Lewis and Sarah Fentriss Lewis; and their grandchildren: Bailey Griffith Knott, Micaela Sebring Knott, Sophia Hope Lewis, Samuel Parker Lewis, Evan Albert Lewis, MaryElla Littleton Hastings and Stro Granbery Hastings.
Arrangements for a Memorial Service to honor Sebring Scott Griffin Lewis will be announced in the coming days.
