Shirley Brown Arnette, 88, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. A native of Brevard, she was the daughter of the late Leonard L. and Ada Ardella Brown. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters Mary Jane Huggins, Hazel Medlin and Patricia Brown Collins, and her brother Robert “Bobby” Brown.

She loved to garden, tending to her flowers, and in her homemaking became an accomplished seamstress, making most of her family’s clothing as well as draperies and upholstery. But her great love was in caring for her family and her household, with an occasional game of golf with her sisters.

Her survivors include her children: Sharon Arnette of Hendersonville, NC and Tony Arnette of Brevard; grandson Seth Arnette and wife Toree; her brother Doug Brown and wife Perry Lee, of Brevard, and her sister Jan Osborne and husband Ted of Brevard.

Graveside services for Shirley Arnette will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest with Rev. Marcus Dodson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org.
