Shirley Gillespie

Shirley Nicholson Gillespie, 83, of Rosman, passed away on November 26, 2024 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. She was born May 10, 1941 in Rosman to the late Lee and Ethel Collins Nicholson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, J.L. (Dot), Leslie (Helen), Gertha (Barbara), and Gene (Jeanne) Nicholson, and her sister Levonne (Ira) Sisk. 

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lester Gillespie; daughter Lisa Gillespie; son Jason Gillespie and wife Katie; and granddaughter Tyler Gillespie; sister-in-law Grace Leonard; and many nieces and nephews.

The Memorial Service for Shirley will be held at Cherryfield Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024 with an informal visitation to follow. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Moriah Calvert Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mt. Moriah Calvert Cemetery Fund, ℅ Cherryfield Baptist Church, 2070 Whitmire Road, Brevard, NC, 28712.
