Suzanne Larson

Suzanne Grace Larson, 75, of Brevard, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina after a valiant two-year battle with cancer.
She was born on October 22, 1939 in New York City, New York, in the borough of Queens to Robert Parker and Grace Stevenson Long. She graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1957 and received her Associates Degree from Christian Junior College in Columbia, Missouri in 1959. In 1960 she married Richard Cory Larson. She lived in many cities throughout her life, ultimately settling in Connestee Falls in 1995.
She never met a stranger and made friends all over the world. Sue loved to travel and Africa was her favorite destination. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and cherished all her many friends. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed walking, playing golf and visiting with everyone she knew. She would volunteer and help wherever she was needed. Sue's grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved to be involved in all they did. She shared her passion of playing Scrabble and many other board games with her children and grandchildren, always engaging them in a game. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion.
Sue was the glue that held her family together and her living legacy will be reflected in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Flora "Bobbie" Braun. She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Richard Larson; daughter Laura Shifflett and husband Steve of King City, Missouri, son Todd Larson and wife Amy of Chesterfield, Missouri; daughter Penny Graham and husband Chris of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Stuart Shifflett and wife Jordan, Todd Shifflett and wife Alyssa, Cory Larson, Abby Larson, Alaina Graham, Sydney Graham and Nora Graham and great-grandchild, Finnley Shifflett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Cherokee Room of the Connestee Falls Overlook Clubhouse at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sue's name to the Elizabeth House, 581 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
