Thelma Merrill

PENROSE, NC



PENROSE - Thelma Lee Sentelle Merrill, 90, died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Transylvania Regional Hospital after an extended illness.



She was born April 29, 1918, the daughter of the late Jethro and Tunia Sentelle. Thelma lived in the Little River community and was active in many areas of her church-Sunday school teacher, Children's Choir leader, Woman's Missionary Union, building committees and Church Choir member.

Thelma's home has always been a hub of activity in the community for both young people and adults.



Surviving in addition to her husband Hayes,of 68 years, are five sons and their families: Melvin and wife, Anita; Larry and wife, Ruby; Raymond and wife, Donys-Kaye; Jerry and wife, Janet, and Allen; eight grandchildren and eight great grand-children. She is also survived by two sisters: Eva Rogers and Faye Simms; and three brothers: Frazier, Kline, and Charlie Sentelle.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday,October 15, 2008 at Little River Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Pfister officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at The Family Life Center of Little River Baptist Church.
