Theodore Earl Davis, Jr. passed away on December 24, 2013 in Brevard, NC. He was born on August 31, 1936 in Greenville, SC. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Andrew Davis.
He lived in Raleigh for 42 years and was employed by the Central YMCA. He loved jazz, art, books, baseball, the Civil War, architecture, his children/grandchildren and his MIGHTY GAMECOCKS!! He was an enthusiastic collector of jazz music and literature for over 60 years. Over 4000 jazz LPs and 500 books have been gifted to the Libraries of Music and Southern Culture at UNC-Chapel Hill in his honor. He was one-of-a-kind and will be missed by all!!
He is survived by a daughter, Lyn Davis Wooten and her two children, Davis and Kelli, of Clemmons, NC and a son, Bradley E. Davis, his three sons Jack, Joe and Harry and wife Leslie B. Davis.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 3PM in the Chapel of Edenton Street United Methodist Church. Please come and celebrate the life of "Pappa Ted"!!
