Vera Stinson

CEDAR MOUNTAIN, NC- Vera Jones Stinson, 102, of Cedar Mountain, N.C., died Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Ga.

Born August 19, 1910 in Brevard, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Solomon Alexander Jones and Janie Ruth McCrary Jones.  She was a retired teacher with the Oak Hills School District in Cincinnati, Ohio, with forty-four years of service.  She was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Cedar Mountain, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Herbert Stinson, Jr.

Survivors include one son, George Herbert Stinson III and wife Barbara of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Melody Jane Stinson Jenkins of Moultrie, Ga.; four grandchildren, Angela Stitzel and husband Matt, Todd Stinson and wife Dawn, Maggie Lunsford and G.W. Jenkins; two sisters, Dixie Lane of Atlanta and Annie Wickliffe of Cedar Mountain, N.C.

Graveside rites will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Rocky Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Hemphill officiating.
