Douglas Wayne "BlackJack" Jamerson, 71, of Brevard, passed away on September 1, 2021. A native of Brevard, he was the son of the late Bill S. Jamerson and Annie May Fisher Jamerson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Wilgen.
He attended school in Brevard and East Hendersonville. He began working for Carolina Bridge Company at the age of 19. His first project was building the bridge on I-26 over the Green River. He was 32 years old when he left the bridge company as a supervisor. In 1982 he started W & W Heating and Air. Through the 31 years of business he made many friends who were contractors and customers that he enjoyed working with.
He loved hunting and fishing, catching the big catfish in the lakes in Santee SC. His nickname "BlackJack" came from his love of throwing knives and tomahawks. He enjoyed teaching others this hobby as well.
He accepted Jesus as his Savior in October of 1979 and was baptized by Rev. George Thompson becoming a member of Midway Bible Baptist church in Cathey's Creek NC. He enjoyed many mission trips where he was able to use his many skills of trade. He also had a passion for helping local churches installing and servicing their HVAC systems. His hearts desire was to help the needy in the community, donating time and supplies when necessary.
His loving survivors include his wife of 44 years Patsy Fuller Jamerson; his son, Douglas Wayne "Bubba" Jamerson Jr. of Balsam Grove, daughters- Amanda Jamerson of Brevard NC, and Aleshia Jamerson Kirby (husband Allan) of Marion NC; Four Grandchildren- Alexis Jamerson Fast (husband Craig) of Canada, Douglas Allan Kirby II "Too", Jason Gabriel Ray Kirby "J.G.", and Tessa Kay Kirby of Marion NC three Brothers: Steve Jamerson, Robert Jamerson (wife Debra), and Johnny Jamerson, all of Brevard NC; three Sisters Billie Nicholson (husband Doug) of Pisgah Forest NC, Rita Long of Brevard NC and Ella Jacobs (husband Paul) of Seattle, Washington.
Graveside services were held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on September 3, 2021 with Rev. Mike Rogers officiating and singing brought by Mrs. Jenny Rackley. Celebration of life was held at the Jamerson home afterwards.
