William Austin

William France Austin, 88, of Pisgah Forest, NC passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home. He was a son of the late Walter Kelsie Austin and Docie Mae Gossett Austin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Margaret Johnson and Helen Cochran.

William graduated from Leicester High School. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He worked at Ecusta for 39 years and was a member of Blantyre Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Grace Baynard Austin, two daughters; Brenda Frizzell and husband Eddie of Pisgah Forest, Teresa Dodson and husband Randal of Brevard and one son; William Douglas "Doug" Austin and wife Lynn of Horse Shoe. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Billy Dodson and wife Nyla, Mark Frizzell and wife Lacey, Sheri Henson and husband Andrew, Tyler Austin, Hannah Frizzell and Savanna Austin, five great grandchildren; LeAnna Frizzell Caiden Dodson, Colton Frizzell, Braysen Dodson and Grady Frizzell, two brothers James Austin and wife Carolyn and Harold Austin and wife Louise and two sisters; Christine Hamilton and JoAnn Norton and husband JB.

Funeral Services for William Austin will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Blantyre Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
