William Hayes

William Thomas Hayes, 90, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. A native of Rockville Centre, NY, he was the son of the late John and Margaret McMahon Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary, and his brothers John Hayes, George Hayes, Steve Hayes and Harold Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy as a communications officer.

He is survived by his children: Mark Hayes, Paul Hayes (Valerie), Peter Hayes (Nancy), and Margaret Hayes (Ron Antinello); nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Funeral mass for Mr. Hayes will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8. 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard with Father Shawn O'Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest. Military Funeral Rites will be presented by the U.S. Navy and the Transylvania County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Moore-Blanchard Funeral Home.
