William Hershel Galloway

William Hershel Galloway, 101, of Brevard, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late James A. and Mary M. Galloway. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Margarita “Margo” Galloway, his daughter, Karen Hooper, his brother Gayden Galloway, and his sisters Bonnie Tinsley and Ruby Fanning.

A World War II Veteran, he served his country his great pride, enlisting in 1942. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all.

His loving survivors include his son, Keith Galloway (Liz); grandchildren – Richie Hooper (Mindi), Alison Batson (Ty), T.J. Hooper (Kelly), and Eli Galloway (Amanda); and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Hershel Galloway will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon until time for the service. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Margo.
