William Mckelvey

July 12, 1939 — April 21, 2015

Brevard, North Carolina

William Perry "Bill" McKelvey, 75, of Brevard, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2015. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late John Crawford and Lila Mae Surrett McKelvey, and the adopted son of the late E.C. Wilson and Elsie Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters Martha Whitson, June Salley and Frances Stanley and his brother Bob McKelvey.

Mr. McKelvey served in the United States Navy for six years before beginning his forty-four year career with Ecusta in Brevard. He was also a member of Carr's Hill Baptist Church.

His loving survivors include his wife of 53 years, Freda C. McKelvey, adoptive mother Elsie Wilson; son William Thad McKelvey and wife Sonya of Brevard; grandchildren Elizabeth, Madison, Walker and Jacob, all of Brevard; brother Jack McKelvey,; sister Hazel Chapman; adoptive sisters Judy Reese and Brenda Ivers; adoptive brothers Deedie Wilson and Carroll Wilson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Bill McKelvey will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 26. 2015 at Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Dan McCall officiating. Interment and Military honors by the SC Navy Reserves and the Transylvania County Honor Guard will follow at Carr's Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M., one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Carr's Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2719 Greenville Hwy., Brevard, NC 28712.
