William Thomas “Tom” Penn, 83, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, he grew up in Oak Ridge, the son of the late William and Claribel Coleman Penn. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, John Edward Penn of Raleigh, NC.
A proud graduate and fan of the University of Tennessee, he retired from Ecusta in Pisgah Forest after a full and lengthy career. He was active in a number of civic groups and activities as well as his present church, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church of Brevard, as well as his former church, First United Methodist of Brevard.
His loving survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lynne; their children William Sean Penn (Amy), Steven Parnell Penn (Jennifer); grandchildren William Charles Penn, Kathryn Louise Penn, Steven Mitchell “Mitch” Penn and William Joseph “Will” Penn.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at St. Philip's Episcopal Church. A reception will follow in Miller Hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Sharing House at 164 Duckworth Ave, Brevard, NC 28712 or to St. Philip Foundation c/o St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 256 E. Main Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
