William Whitmire

William Otis Whitmire, 77, of Rosman, passed away on October 22, 2014 at his residence. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Lynch and Mamie Bowley Whitmire. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary O. Whitmire; two brothers; Arthur Whitmire and Roy Whitmire, two sisters; Lucille Whitmire Cox and Judith Boley Orr and a grandson Allen Breeden.

Mr. Whitmire is survived by his brothers Doug Whitmire of Brevard, NC, Bruce Whitmire of Rosman and Lynch Whitmire of Rosman; sister Margaret Ann Whitmire of Brevard; daughter Zelda Breeden of Rosman; son David Shelton of Greensboro, NC; two very special nephews Michael and Weldon Whitmire , grandchildren Lisa Brittain (William) of Rosman, Darlene (Mark) Walker of Brevard, Danny Breeden of Rosman, Sammy (Nikki) Breeden of Rosman, Tammy Shelton, Michael Shelton and Christine Shelton, all of Greensboro, 14 great grandchildren and 10 great, great, grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him very much.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Whitmire Cemetery.
